WE CAN FLY- PART 2

CLICK for PART 1

Have you ever heard your own heart-beats clear and loud, were you ever so scared that your face flushed red. A tingling sensation ran through my body,
I did not know what time or what day it was, I could hear people whispering and then I heard the guns being loaded, my feet started trembling.

I could hear some footsteps and it grew louder with every passing second, someone was behind me, I could feel the breathing, they put there hand on my neck and opened my mask, I slowly tried to open my eyes, my eyes were burning to see so much light after some time, once I came to my senses and gasped the reality, I was shocked.
My mouth opened and closed a couple of times as i was not sure on how to react.

Roger was standing in front of me, the man whose murder I witnessed on a rainy evening in Patin city, he was right in front of me wearing a black suit and sitting on a...

Dunkrik - A Brief Take.

18198201_1305343799560849_1174691762453026571_n.png

Christopher Nolan the master story teller, visionary and arguably the most influential face in Hollywood comes with his first historical period drama Dunkirk.

He has never stuck to one genre, his range has varied from thrillers to superhero blockbusters to science-based epics.

Nolan re-imaged Batman to The Dark Knight,I have the utmost respect for Christopher Nolan for one he believes in traditional film making and deep storytelling and packs a punch with his non-linear screenplay.

But can Nolan do it again with Dunkirk ?

For those who are familiar with the Dunkirk evacuation know very well that this Saga is an unlikely candidate for a major Hollywood production, especially one from Christopher Nolan.

As soon as the movie starts, onscreen appear these phrases “1. The Mole, 2. The Sea, 3.The Air” and you right away you know that the narrative is woven between these three threads...

WE CAN FLY

we-dont-need-wings.jpg

It was one of the darkest nights in Patin city.

Rain poured in with full might, street lights started flickering, out there on the corner of Lanta street, light seemed to grow with time, there was this sound of tire meeting the road, and then there was a sudden halt.

A jaguar was standing alone on the road, the back door opened, and then a leg placed in black shoes found its way on the water, there was a splash and a sound.

A man dressed in black from top to bottom came out of the car, he lit his cigar, and the light was the only source to see his face.

He had jet black eyes, and his face was like a serpent ready to spit venom.

His venomous look could petrify anyone. He smoothed his greasy hair, and laughed like an evil, out of nowhere a few people dressed in black threw a person before him.

The person’s head was facing the ground, his hands were shaking and voice trembled when...

Ripple Effect

The sun was beaming bright making life tough for Krishna to do his regular job of farming.

Krishna dropped the idea of inspecting the field and instead started narrating a story to his son (Amit) and daughter (Jyothi). Amit and Jyothi listen carefully and do not interrupt me in-between. It all started like this – there was this town named Salarpuri where people used to live happily with greenery surrounding them and with red pearls hidden in a crust named pomegranate being abundant.

As years progressed, the greenery was gone and pomegranate became scarce. Any person with a field consisting of pomegranate had to be rich Karan stayed near the big banyan tree of Salarpuri. He had a big house, was married to a beautiful woman. Karan was rich considering the standards of Salarpuri. Every now and then, the town would talk about the bygone golden days but Karan was never interested, as he...

THE ONE DAY COOK

The Sun rose spilling light all over the place.
I woke up to the loud chirping of birds and I had no option but to complete the early morning rituals. Fresh air filled my lungs and I was refreshed.

I stood near the mirror when the spices aroma hit my senses. What is about this aroma that crashed my senses I never could figure out. The language of Food is a form of seduction for me. I am suddenly lulled into a sense of peace, happiness. I rushed to the kitchen to see what hit my senses and found my mom grinding the spice mix as a part of prep.

I couldn’t help but stay till the feeling of contentment left me both from outside and within me and then it happened , words came out of my mouth without my intervention, I asked my mom to leave the kitchen to me and I committed myself to the job of a One Day Cook.

Being a south Indian, breakfasts always fascinated me. The wide range of early...

NOLAN THE STORY TELLER

Now that we have the Interstellar trailer out in the world , i felt this would be a right time to retrospect Christopher Nolan the man who is bridging the gap between art and commercial movies.

Arguably one of the most innovative screen writers of our time Nolan uses
simple yet effective filming techniques which easily separates him from his counterparts.

Today I’d like to discuss The Prestige, Nolan’s dark and mind-twister of a movie, and my own personal favorite from his films .

the_prestige_59289-1600x1200.jpg

Coming to Prestige the narrator Cutter gives us the key elements of a magic trick, every trick he tells has three crucial elements

The Pledge - the preliminary object or action;

The Turn- the action or the deed that misdirects and distracts the audience from the true purpose of the trick;

The Prestige- the final reveal which leaves us awestruck.

Angier’s(Hugh Jackman) obsession and the desire to be...
